Real Working Ranch

Not a theme park. Not a petting zoo.

A working ranch
that welcomes you in.

We started Diamond Springs Ranch for one reason: to give people the space to slow down from the fast pace of life — to come back to the cowboy way of life, when everything moved a little slower and the land still meant something.

Whether you're saddling up for a trail ride, watching sunrise over Highland cattle, or tucking your kids in at the treehouse — our hope is that you'd encounter something real out here. Something that's harder to find every year.

Our Story

Faith, family,
and the land we love.

Diamond Springs Ranch isn’t a business that decided to be a ranch. It’s a ranch that decided to open its doors.

Byron and Susan Schrag have spent years building a life on this land — raising their family, raising cattle, and caring for a place that has become part of their family’s story. What began as a way of life has grown into something they now get to share with others — and, one day, pass on to the generations that follow.

This isn’t a lifestyle created for guests. It’s simply the life the Schrag family lives.

“Our hope for people visiting the ranch is that they can rest, reset, enjoy the peace & quiet and be inspired to search for who God created them to be.”

We believe the best things in life happen outside, with the people you love, away from a screen. A little slower. A little simpler. And connected to something bigger than yourself.

Dreams. Purpose. Legacy.
That’s what this place is built on.

Can my kids ride? What's the age or weight limit? +
Kids of all ages are welcome on trail rides. Riders must be at least 8 years old to ride independently; younger children can ride tandem with a parent. The weight limit for our horses is 250 lbs. Everyone is welcome at the Ranch Corral Experience regardless of age.
I've never ridden a horse. Is that okay? +
Absolutely. Our guides lead every ride and our horses are selected specifically for their calm, beginner-safe temperament. We'll give you a brief orientation before you mount and stay with you the whole time. Most of our guests have little or no riding experience.
How do I book? Do you take walk-ins? +
All ranch experiences and overnight stays must be booked online in advance. We do not accept walk-ins, so be sure to reserve your spot before heading to the ranch! Call us at 316-303-6195 if you have questions.
What should I wear? +
Closed toe shoes are required for both the trail rides and for the Corral Experience. Boots are preferred but sneakers work fine. Wear clothes you're okay getting a little dusty. In summer, bring sunscreen and water. In cooler months, layer up, as it can get windy out in the open.
Is the treehouse or covered wagon pet-friendly? +
We love animals — they're a big part of ranch life! The Sunset Reset Treehouse welcomes up to 2 well-behaved dogs, while the Sunset Schooner Covered Wagon is pet-free. We just ask that dogs stay leashed outside to help keep our horses, Highland cattle, and other ranch animals safe.
Can I book the ranch for a private event or corporate outing? +
Yes — we love private events. Birthday parties, corporate team building, engagement photos, family reunions, you name it. Contact Susan directly at 316-209-5498 to talk through what you have in mind and we’ll put together something special.
